Gallopers Policy at Ayr Racecourse

Due to the large number of fixtures staged at Ayr Racecourse which attract large numbers of runners, both on the flat and NH tracks, we cannot under any circumstances allow gallopers through the season.

We have limited track space in which to provide a consistent racing surface and with the costs of track maintenance increasing this must be a blanket policy - no exceptions in the interests of fairness.

At the end of the racing seasons, NH and Flat, we may allow gallopers the following day, conditions permitting, and this will carry a charge of £35 + vat per horse payable in advance.

    Our fixture on Wednesday January 6 has been abandoned. The track is frozen and with the temperature currently -1c and forecast to be -2c over the next two nights conditions will not improve before Wednesday.

    Racing at Ayr today has been abandoned after temperatures failed to rise above freezing at the track. Frost covers had been laid on Monday and were lifted this morning but with temperatures still at 0c the meeting was called off.
