Ayrshire Cancer Support is the partner charity for Ayr Racecourse and Western House Hotel and has been for almost 2 years. To date an astonishing £32,000 has been raised by the Racecourse and Hotel. This donation has helped the Ayrshire wide charity not only flourish but continue to help those affected by cancer. 2019 is set to be the most exciting year to date as we continue to aid their brand awareness and provide practical support.
Ayrshire Cancer Support offer a range of services throughout the district and has grown considerably since being founded in 1982.
The range of services include, counselling services, drop in centre, support groups, complementary therapies, information services and information leaflets. The second to none patient transport service provides free transport to people undergoing cancer treatment and attending hospital appointments, this is service carried out by volunteer drivers, with an astonishing 1,000 to 1,500 patient journeys made each month on behalf of Ayrshire Cancer patients, with a high percentage of the journeys being made to the Beatson Hospital in Glasgow.
The charity’s Drop in Centre in Kilmarnock offers a welcoming atmosphere for patients and family members to chat and relax. The centre offers beautiful gardens, a quiet library, breakfast bar and therapy rooms where therapists provide a range of complementary therapies which help to relieve the symptoms of cancer.
