THE 2018-2019 jumps season at Ayr Racecourse gets under way on Monday with a six race card.
The action kicks off at 12.55pm with a two mile four furlong maiden hurdle which could see some southern based trainers sending young horses on the long trip north.
The two mile Weddings At Western House Novices Hurdle at 1.30pm was won last year by the highly rated Better Getalong from the Nicky Richards yard and the same stable are represented this time round by Carry On Arcadio, the mount of Brian Hughes.
The Christmas Tribute Nights @AyrRacecourse Chase, a Novices Limited Handicap over two mile four furlongs at 2.05pm has attracted some good entries including Indirocco from the all-conquering Dan Skelton yard.
The Book 2nd January Raceday and Celebrate Handicap Chase over 3 miles at 2.40pm, a qualifier for the Northern Lights Staying Chase Series, sees Attention Please from the Rose Dobbin yard attempt to land this prize.
The action concludes with a National Hunt Flat Race and usually this type of race at Ayr guarantees a good field with some promising horses featuring with the leading stables of Nicky Richards, Stuart Crawford, Keith Dalgleish and Donald McCain represented.
Gates are open at 11 o’clock with the final race on the card due off at 3.50 pm.
Ayr Racecourse stages a seven race card on Monday June 18 with the action coming under starter’s orders at 2.00pm with a novice auction stakes over six furlongs for two year-olds.READ MORE
