Fixture Overview

The biggest and best day of the jumps season in Scotland and this undoubtedly is one of the very top sporting occasions of the year.

Eight outstanding races including the Coral Scottish Grand National and the Scottish Champion Hurdle see the very best of equine talent competing with most of the leading jockeys in the land in action.

But if you want to attend please book early as this day has sold out on each of the last few years.

The highlight of the day’s racing is the action is without doubt the Coral Scottish Grand National.

With £215,000 in prize-money this is the second richest jumps handicap behind only the Grand National and National and is in the top four races by betting turnover.

Last year’s renewal produced the closest finish ever in a Coral Scottish Grand National with 33-1 chance Joe Farrell holding  on by a nose from Ballyoptic to land the £122,000 prize and give trainer Rebecca Curtis and jockey Adam Wedge their biggest ever success.

It was an enthralling race and at one point it looked as if Vicente was going to create history by becoming the first horse in more than 100 years to win three consecutive Scottish Grand Nationals.

Sam Twiston-Davies had his mount perfectly situated on the outside of the pack but his jumping didn’t stand up in the home straight and he had to settle for a gallant fifth place.

The main supporting race on the card is the £105,000 Scottish Champoion Hurdle won in 2018 by  Midnight Shadow ior trainer Sue Smith and jockey Danny Cook.

Other top races on the day include The Jordan Electrics Ltd Future Champion Chase and the Listed Scotty Brand Handicap Chase.

Throughout the afternoon and before racing there is an assortment of quality entertainment including a tribute band in the tented village, jazz bands and flash mobs.

After racing there will be a top live band n the Horseshoe Bar within the Club stand with Colin McArdle playing a dj set in the Ayrshire Suite.
