The Scottish owned Galvin has been allocated top-weight of 12-0 for this year’s running of the Coral Scottish Grand National on Saturday April 22 but Ronnie Bartlett’s recent Cheltenham Cross Country runner-up is an intended runner in this weekend’s Grand National at Aintree.
The sponsors’ ante-post favourite Kitty’s Light (Christian Williams) is down to carry 10-8 before any probable weights rise, with the 7 year-old looking to go one place better than last year’s second behind now retired stable companion Win My Wings.
The second and third horses in the weights, Lifetime Ambition and Corach Rambler, are also intended runners at Aintree on Saturday, with Fergal O’Brien’s Paint The Dream next in the handicap on 11-9 and Ronnie Bartlett’s second entry Dusart (16/1) set to carry 11-8.
Sandy Thomson’s recent Kelso winner Empire Steel is a 14/1 chance off a current weight of 10-13 with stable companion Flower Of Scotland (12/1) possibly struggling to get a run off his current 9-4.
Lucinda Russell’s 11/1 second favourite with the sponsors, Your Own Story, has been handed 9-9 with the weights almost certain to rise and bring the 7 year-old into the handicap proper, while recent Ulster National winner Malina Girl has been allocated a handy looking 10-5.
Last year’s Scottish Champion Hurdle winner Anna Bunina has been trained all season for this year’s repeat bid in the £75,000 feature which goes off an hour and ten minutes before the National at 2.25.
Nigel Twiston-Davies’ I Like To Move It heads the weights on 12-0 with Anna Bunina down to carry 10-11 and another Irish raider Colonel Mustard looking interesting off 11-1,with the recent Kelso form shown by Lorna Fowler’s charge having been boosted in a valuable race at Plumpton this month.
