AIRDRIE owner Ronnie Bartlett’s BANBRIDGE is top of the weights on 12-0 for the £200,000 Coral Scottish Grand National on Saturday April 18, although the 2024 Kempton King George winner is still engaged in this Saturday’s Grand National at Aintree.
The same Aintree entry is also held by the next two horses in the weights on 10-13, Johnnywho and Mr Vango, with the 4th horse currently the Gordon Elliott trained Search For Glory on 10-12, a 9 year-old which was pulled up in Monday’s Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse.
Banbridge’s trainer Joseph O’Brien also has the similarly Aintree-bound Jordans in the race on 10-9, with Lucinda Russell and Michael Scudamore’s current joint-favourite King Of Answers set to carry 10-1 before an almost certain rise in the weights.
A third O’Brien possible in the shape of current joint-favourite Kim Roque, is way out of the handicap (for now) on 9-5 but does seem to be an intended runner for Banbridge’s owner Ronnie Bartlett.
The weights for the £100,000 Coral Scottish Champion Hurdle are headed by the Jonjo and AJ O’Neill trained WILFUL on 11-12, with last year’s Ewan Whillans’ trained winner Cracking Rhapsody on 10-10 and Philip Hobbs and Johnson White’s Kelso Morebattle Hurdle winner Captain Hugo on 10-8.
The next conformation stage for both races is Monday April 13, with final fields set to be declared on Thursday April 16.
