The Sunday Market

We are delighted that the Ayr Racecourse Sunday Market is back operating as normal every Sunday, open to the public from 8.30am.

Please note the Sunday Market will not be in operation on Sunday 19th September 2021.

To keep everyone safe, please see COVID Procedures currently in place below.

  • Face masks are encouraged to be worn
  • Public entrance for the market will be at 08.30 with a queuing system at gate E maintaining social distancing as per gov guidance 
  • The highest levels of hygiene controls according to the government guidelines on hand washing, sanitising, and ‘Catch it, Bin it, Kill it', techniques will be maintained;
  • Hand sanitisers will be available at entry/exits points 
  • Separate entry (Gate E), exit (Gate C), will be used for the public
  • Toilets will be restricted to max 6 people only at any one time, queuing will be maintained within the safe distancing parameters, this will be stewarded
  • Toilets will be cleaned regularly, and disposable wipes/towels will be available.
  • A one way system has been introduced to the market to ensure social distancing
  • A one in one out policy in place when the market reaches its capacity for social distancing as per Gov guidelines.


  • Face masks are encouraged to be worn
  • All Stall holders will partake in a screening processes that will include questions about their wellbeing and a temperature check of a maximum of 37.8C
  • Any stall holder that fails the screening process will be asked to return home
  • All stall holders must wear face coverings/masks (supplied by themselves) at all times when interacting with customers fail to do so will result in them not being able to trade
  • Max 2 people permitted on site per stall
  • All stall holders must maintain safe distancing according to government guidelines.
  • All stall holders will need to demonstrate infection control measures
  • There will be no seating areas at snack vans
  • Access for Traders and Carbooters is 0600 for entry and last stall allowed entry 0800. Any trader or Carbooter later than 0800 will not be permitted entrance to trade
  • When taking payments Market staff will be wearing masks and gloves and will have the capacity to accept cash of card.

The Sunday Market is easily accessible by road and rail.

By Road - The M77 links Ayr with Glasgow which is only 37 miles away and Edinburgh is a 83 mile drive. From South take the A74, A70 or A713 onto the A77 and then into Ayr and follow signs for Ayr Racecourse.

By Rail - There is a regular, reliable rail service from Ayr to all parts of the country and the station is less than 5 minutes by road or a 15-minute walk from the Market.

There is a large car park offering free parking adjacent to Tesco.

To obtain a trading position simply turn up on site, between the hours of 6am and 8am on the day and you will be allocated a position by the market superintendent on a first come first served basis, please arrive as early as possible to secure as place as during the summer months space can be limited. The cost of pitches will vary depending upon frontage occupied. Pricing can be found below.

IMPORTANT TRADERS INFORMATION –If you wish to trade at the Sunday Market and your offerings include children’s rides, inflatables etc... you must contact Ayr Racecourse Offices (01292 264 179) and provide an up-to-date Public Liability Certificate and Risk Assessment prior to trading. Please note such trading activities are subject to availability.

FOOD VENDORS OR CATERERS ONLY – Please note that South Ayrshire Council require checks to be conducted before food vendors and caterers can trade at the Sunday Market. South Ayrshire Council can be contacted on 01292 616060 to organise such checks, please click here to download an application form which should be sent to South Ayrshire Council (address on form). If you have not passed checks from the South Ayrshire Council you will not be able to trade.
