Millions pumped into local economy courtesy of Ayr Gold Cup Festival

Huge crowds will descend on Ayr Racecourse this week as the glamour, excitement and fun of the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup Festival comes to town.

Hotel rooms are fully booked within a 15 mile radius of the course and businesses including bars, restaurants, hairdressers and taxi operators are in for a boom weekend as several millions is poured into the local economy.

Running from Thursday through till Saturday there are more than 20,000 expected over the three days.

And the team of Racecourse chefs will prepare several thousand meals during the course of the Festival.

Former footballers Arthur Numan and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink will conduct the draw for the Gold Cup on Thursday morning accompanied by the newly crowned Miss Scotland Lucy Kerr and this will be screened live on Racing UK.

After racing racecourse favourites Waterfront will play in the Horseshoe Bar in the Club stand.

Friday sees glamour take centre stage when it is William Hill Ayr Gold Cup Ladies Day featuring  the final of the  Ladies Competition.

And former JLS heartthrob and now celebrity DJ Oritse Williams will be on hand to help present the prizes for this when one lucky lady will win a fabulous four night holiday for two courtesy of Stewart Travel and Jet 2 Holidays to New York flying from Glasgow on November 24 staying in a four star hotel plus £1000 of Ayr Central Shopping Vouchers with a personal style consultation and shopping experience  plus £1000 worth of Coast Clinic Ayr treatments.

There are also fabulous prizes for second and third place.

And after racing on Friday Oritse Williams will play a 90 minute set in the Ayrshire Suite within the Grandstand while the White Band will have the Horseshoe Bar in the club stand rocking.

Saturday’s big day is highlighted by Scotland’s richest flat race the £200,000 William Hill Ayr Gold Cup and there is terrific entertainment throughout the afternoon and after racing with Beatles tribute act Just Beatles playing in the Tented Village in the Grandstand area during racing and DJ Colin McArdle in the Ayrshire for three hours after the last race with A Side Soul in the Horseshoe Bar.
