09 August 2011

Linda Perratt again proved the First Lady at Ayr Racecourse's Champagne GH Mumm Ladies Night on Saturday saddling Benny The Bear to land Unison's Ayrshire & Arran Health Branch Handicap.

The horse, sent off at 11/2 was given an enterprising ride from apprentice jockey Shane B Kelly who made all and then kicked clear to win by three lengths from Music Festival. It was Linda's eighth success at the Craigie track this season.

It was a good night all round for Scottish trainers with Jim Goldie saddling a double - All For You (8/1) in the Champagne GH Mumm Rose Handicap with Gary Bartley  riding and the well backed Circus Clown (evens fav), with Shane B Kelly in the plate, in McKenzie Hair Studio 10th Anniversary Handicap.

And to round off the Tartan success story Ian Semple's Blues Jazz won the opening race the jockeyjan.co.uk Jan Wilson Memorial Apprentice Handicap. Ridden by George Chaloner, the 11/2 chance won by three quarters of a length from Blown It.

Other winners on the night included a Danny Tudhope ridden double on Invincible Hero (7/2 jt fav) in the Gas Sure & James Frew 100 Year Handicap for trainer Declan Carroll and Nafa ( 13/2) for Michael Mullineaux in the Champagne GH Mumm Cordon Rouge Handicap.
