A top class day’s racing is lined up for Ayr’s Summer Saturday Raceday tomorrow (Saturday) with more than £160,000 in prize-money across the seven race card.
The feature race at 4.25pm is the £50,000 British Stallion Studs EBF Land O’Burns Fillies’ Stakes, Listed Race, which has attracted a maximum field of 17 runners.
This stellar line-up includes a Group 2 winner in Little Kim from the Karl Burke yard, Clive Cox’s Heartwarming, Roger Varian’s Queen Of Desire and Shumookhi, trained by Archie Watson, who was second in Scotland’s only Group race the William Hill Firth of Clyde Stakes at Ayr last September.
Trainer Richard Hughes saddles Gold Filigree with stable apprentice Finley Marsh riding while Henry Candy who has won the race twice before is represented by Rebecca Rocks, the mount of Paul Hanagan.
The main supporting race is the Wellington Bar Paisley Handicap for the Winton Cup, a Class 2, where a field of 15 runners includes the Mark Johnston trained pair Charles Kingsley with Jason Hart riding and Fire Fighting who has Colm Donoghue in the plate.
The opening race on the card at 2.00pm is another Class 2 The JW Grant Builders Merchant Handicap for the Johnstone Rose Bowl and Roger Charlton’s Blue Mist, the mount of Adam McNamara looks interesting here as does Waarif a course winner last September for David O’Meara and due to be ridden by Cam Hardie.
Gates open at 12 noon with the last race due off at 5.40pm.
