We are delighted that as part of the phased return of owners to racecourses in line with the Government guidance for elite sports grounds, we are able to allow two racehorse owners (or their representatives) to attend race meetings behind closed doors.

To enable us to ensure that all of the appropriate arrangements are in place and minimise risk for owners and prioritise the safety and wellbeing of all attendees we need you to provide us with the details of those who will be attending by no later than 4pm on the day before the race meeting. Please use the Racecourse PASS System to do this, via If you do not have access to the PASS System or need any assistance in its use, please contact the PASS Helpdesk on 01933 270333 or

Please note that only owners or representatives who have registered by 4pm the day before the race will be allowed entry to the track on the day. To avoid disappointment if you are not registered please do not attend.

Can you also be aware that due to the restrictions in place it will sadly not be possible for you to enjoy our award winning owners’ experience as Western House currently remains closed and we are unable to grant access to the Parade Ring and Winners Enclosure. This is due to the fact that owners cannot enter the Racing Green Zone and must remain in their own exclusive area.

Please enter the racecourse via the traffic lights in Whitletts Road at Tesco, following the racecourse access road to the checkpoint. Please remain in your car and you will be asked to confirm completion of the pre-racing questionnaire and answer a few more questions and your temperature and photo ID will be checked and you will be issued with a wrist band.

Please park in the main car park in front of the racecourse and enter the course via PR Reception going upstairs to the PR suite where you will be guided to an external area opposite the winning post. Within this area you will be offered a complimentary packed lunch and there will also be tea and coffee available. There will be no bar service and no alcohol should be brought onto the course.

We have created an area outwith but adjacent to the Parade Ring and Winners Enclosure that as a briefing area for a socially distanced (two metres) chat with trainers and jockeys. Please note there will be no exit permitted to any other area on the course.

A one way system is in place for departure from the racecourse. Can we also remind you that social distancing is two metres outdoors in Scotland and if you intend visiting any retail outlets outwith the course before or after racing you should bring a face mask.

The following requirements are also in place to allow us to provide entry, full details of which are available from the Return to Racecourse Guide for Owners, and a summary is provided below

  • All owners will need to complete a two-stage screening process. This includes the BHA's COVID-19 online learning module and a personal health assessment to be completed in advance of raceday, followed by health questions and a temperature check on arrival at the racecourse. If your temperature exceeds 37.8C, you will not be granted access to the racecourse and will be advised to travel home.
  • Owners will access Ayr Racecourse by turning off Whitletts Road at the traffic lights at Tesco following the private racecourse road to the checkpoint where they will remain in the car to go through temperature checks answer health and questions and be issued with a wrist band. You will then enter the PR car park
  • All owners, guests and representatives must bring Photo ID with them to the racecourse. It is not essential to bring your PASS Card.
  • To facilitate social distancing and avoid entry delays, owners are requested to arrive at the racecourse no more 45 minutes before their first horse is due to run and leave the racecourse within an hour of the final race in which they have a confirmed runner.
  • Owners on course will have access to a dedicated 'owners' zone', which will be separated from raceday workers (trainers, stable staff, jockeys, officials, media etc.), who have undergone a more rigorous health screening process. For infection control purposes, no movement will be permitted between the two areas of the racecourse.
  • In line with the Government's guidance for elite sport's venues, food and drink may not be available on course.

We look forward to welcoming you to Ayr Racecourse but if you require any additional information please contact us on 01292 264179 during office hours or email
