One of the highlights of the summer racing programme at Ayr takes place on Monday July 15 with the Glasgow Fair Family Raceday.
The seven race card has some good prize-money on offer and there should be a host of top northern jockeys riding including Pual Hanagan, Danny Tudhope, Ben Curtis, Tom Eaves and Graham Lee.
The feature race is the £25,000 Weddings At Western House Hotel Handicap, a Class 2, over a mile and this will attract some good handicappers and could well be a target for Jim Goldie’s Nicholas T who won at the track on Sunday.
Mark Johnston saddled the winner last year when Vale Of Kent won in the famous Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum colours and he has several entries this time round..
The opening race is a seven furlong maiden which was back in 2004 by the mighty Shamardal who went on to win three Group 1s and as a stallion has produced some outstanding horses including Blue Point who won two Group 1s within four days at Royal Ascot this year.
In addition to the races there is another day full of FREE family entertainment including a Mascot race which will come under starters orders at 1.00pm.
Gates open at noon and children will be able to meet their favourite princesses and superheroes including Captain America, Spiderman and Elsa.
There will be a special Face Painting Studio, glitter tattooists, arts and crafts station, photo booth and dress up station, an exciting treasure hunt, a lego station, an amazing escape tent and a display of vintage fire engines.
In addition there will be a beat the goalie featuring some young Ayr United players, fairground rides, a petting zoo, rodeo bull and a wipeout simulator game.
Would be jockeys will be able to test their skills on an ecquisizer and there will be members of the Regiment of Scotland and Royal Air Force present.
Gates open at 12.00 noon and the first race is due off at 2.05pm.
