Ayr stages its fourth July meeting tomorrow (Monday) with the eight race Summer Sizzler Raceday getting under way at 1.30pm.
First up is the ayrgoldcup.co.uk Novice Stakes over six furlongs where there are some very interesting newcomers in action.. These include Richard Fahey’s 260,000 guineas buy Custodian, the mount of Paul Hanagan, and Mark Johnston’s Panist who has PJ McDonald in the plate.
Others here include the Karl Burke trained Dick Datchery, who finished fourth at the track 15 days ago after missing the break, and Kevin Ryan’s Master McGrath.
The feature race is the Flower Show @Ayr Racecourse in August Handicap over 1m 2f and the Fahey-Hanagan partnership team up here with Windsor Cross while Mike Smith saddles last year’s winner Glasses Up with Paddy Mathers riding. Jim Goldie’s Nicholas T is in great heart while Mark Johnston’s Asian Angel is another with winning form at Ayr and all in all this looks a highly competitive race.
The Scottish Sun Ladies Night Handicap at 2.00pm has a maximum field of 17 runners including Kevin Ryan’s Kodicat who was touched off here two weeks ago by Kinch.
The five furlong handicap at 2.30pm features Linda Perratt’s Popping Corks, who has been running consistently, and Tim Easterby’s lightly raced three year-old Dream House.
Gates open at 12.00 noon.
