The penultimate Flat meeting of the season at Ayr takes place today (Tuesday) with October Raceday featuring an exciting eight race card with more than 90 runners competing.
The action gets underway at 2.10pm with the Racing UK Nursery Handicap over a mile while the feature contest is the Weatherbys Racing Diaries Handicap at 4.20pm and 13 runners go to post in this Class 3 race over 7f 50y.
Saint Equiano who won at the track on the opening day of last month’s William Hill Ayr Gold Cup Festival carries top weight in this and should be hard to beat if in the same form.
Richard Fahey saddles two in the race – Queen Penn, the mount of Paddy Mathers, and Inviolable Sprit due to be ridden by Paul Hanagan.
The Weatherbys Hamilton Handicap at 4.55pm sees Top Mission, trained by Saeed bin Suroor and the mount of David Allan carry top weight and he should take all the beating.
There are two divisions of the apprentice handicap to close proceedings today and some of the promising young riders in action include Sebastian Woods, Theodore Ladd, Andrew Breslin, Paula Muir and Gavin Ashton.
