UPLAWMOOR based trainer Jim Goldie wrote his place in the record books at Ayr Racecourse yesterday when saddling the 1-2-3-4 home in the Coastal Getaway Offer At Western House Hotel Handicap.
The six furlong sprint looked to be going the way of Gonianodaethat, bidding for his ninth course win and ridden by Callum Rodriguez but stablemate Cheeni, collared him on the line to win by a head and give the filly her first ever win with PJ McDonald riding. Insurplus was third with Sea Of Green fourth making it a very special day for the Goldie team.
Cheeni wins the Coastal Getaway Offer At Western House Hotel Handicap.
It was also a very special day for the Ontoawinner Syndicate when Cosy Club won The QTS Ladies Night on August 12 Handicap at odds of 16-1 to give them their 100th winner.
The yellow and white colours are best known for the Group 1 winning exploits of Quiet Reflection but this handicap win by the 16-1 shot trained by Adrian Keatley near the Curragh in Ireland and ridden by Danny Sheehy was a very proud moment for all concerned.
And Carluke trainer Keith Dalgleish was celebrating a double with wins for Crazy Tornado in the one mile handicap and Maulesden May in the feature race the Racing UK Handicap. Both horses were ridden by Graham Lee.
And the apprentice handicap over one mile five furlongs was won by Kashmiri Sunset on his first run for trainer Iain Jardine given a first class ride by stable apprentice Jamie Gormley.
