Flat Racing at Ayr Racecourse

Tickets can now only be purchased at the gates on the day.

The third day of the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup Festival and the richest day's racing of the flat season in Scotland.

A staggering £400,000 in prize money is being raced for this afternoon and as a result some of the biggest names in the sport will be taking part.

The Channel 4 team will be here as today we are the premier televised meeting. Rishi Persad, Jim McGrath, Graham Cunningham, Tanya Stevenson and Richard Hoiles will bring viewers the action.

But the place to be is on course to witness for yourself one of the iconic sights in racing - the 27 strong field thundering down the six furlong home straight in pursuit of the coveted prize.

Last year's worthy winner was Captain Ramius trained by Kevin Ryan and ridden by leading Irish jockey Pat Smullen.

There are also some other fantastic races including the William Hill Ayr Silver Cup, The William Hill - Bet On The Move Doonside Cup Stakes, the William Hill - Iphone, Ipad, Ipad Mini Ayrshire Handicap and The William Hill - In The App Store Firth of Clyde Stakes.

After racing there is some great entertainment featuring REPLAY - one of Scotland's leading contemporary covers bands - live in the Horseshoe Bar and a disco in the Ayrshire Suite.

The fun goes on for approximately three hours after the last race.

Celebrity Pundit to Guest at Draw and Judge Best Dressed Ladies.

Robbie SavageFootballer-turned-television pundit Robbie Savage is to make two guest appearances at the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup Festival.

The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant, who is now a sporting ambassador for William Hill, will make the draw for the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup on Thursday September 19 and the following afternoon he will be a judge for the Best Dressed Lady competition on Ladies' Day.

The draw for the big race has become an integral part of the Festival and takes place at 11am on Thursday with trainers or representatives from all 27 horses running in the Saturday showcase picking the stalls their horse will run from after its name is drawn.

Racing UK will broadcast the draw live with Gordon Brown presenting and the addition of a big name like Robbie Savage is sure to be a major attraction.

Tickets can now only be purchased at the gates on the day.
