This is the most exciting, prestigious and richest day’s racing of the flat season in Scotland with the centrepiece the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup.

The eight race card oozes class and allied to all the other elements of the days makes this one of the must visit occasions on the sporting calendar.

Not only is the racing out of the top drawer there is also fantastic entertainment throughout the day which continues after the last race to add to your enjoyment.

The William Hill Ayr Gold Cup run over six furlongs with £180,000 in prize-money, is the most famous flat race in the country and boasts a rich history with some very famous horses on the roll of honour.

Other exciting races include Scotland’s only Group race, the Group 3 William Hill Firth Of Clyde Stakes , the William Hill Doonside Cup, a Listed Race, and the William Hill Ayr Silver Cup.

All four of these races are shown live on Channel 4 underlining the importance of this day.

The atmosphere is electric and no matter where you are on the course you have access to first class viewing as in addition to Ayr being one of the best viewing tracks in the UK we have several big screens throughout the course.

25 horses sprinting on the hallowed turf of Ayr Racecourse

A Saturday afternoon that is the showstopper of the Festival.

Gates open at 11 am and from then until the first race, The QTS Nursery Handicap at 1.25 pm, the build-up is fitting of such an occasion.

Gates on this momentous day open at 11.00 am and as the crowds build the air of anticipation  mounts ahead of the first race the QTS Nursery Handicap at 1.25 pm.

A jazz band plays on the Champagne Lawns and we have live music in the tented Village within the Grandstand.

Just minutes after the horses cross the line in the final race of the day, the Jordan Electrics Ltd Handicap Stakes, the entertainment begins.

One of Scotland’s top party bands - Replay - play in the Horseshoe Bar within the Club area  and this five piece outfit are not to be missed.

Their high energy set includes some superb versions of classic songs that will have everyone on their feet and they will ensure the party atmosphere continues until around 8.45 pm. Replay will show whey they are among Scotland’s elite acts.

And in the Ayrshire Suite within the Grandstand ever popular West FM DJ Colin McArdle will crank up the fun with his zany humour while playing hit after hit.

As days out go William Hill Ayr Gold Cup Saturday is among the very best.
