The £65,000 Listed William Doonside Cup is the feature race run over one mile two furlongs and six runners go to post including Frankuus, a three year son of Frankel, trained by Mark Johnston in Middleham and the mount of Joe Fanning.
The top weight is the eight year-old Irish raider and multiple Listed race winner Brendan Brackan, trained by Ger Lyons and ridden by Colin Keane.
The opening race is the EBF Novice Stakes over a mile for two year-olds and there are four previous winners in the ten strong field including Kevin Ryan’s Salazar, winner of a seven furlong novice stakes at the track in August and Lisheen Castle from the John Quinn yard who won on the soft at Hamilton last month.
There is more than £750,000 in prize-money up for grabs over the three days and before racing this morning Old Firm football legends Arthur Numan and Paul Elliott are the guest stars at the Live Draw for this year’s William Hill Ayr Gold Cup.
