Racing Today at Ayr

RACING goes ahead at Ayr today after the course passed an early morning inspection.

The seven race card gets under way at 1.50 pm with the totepacepot maiden hurdle where Just Don’t Ask, trained by Charlie Longsdon and the mount of Brian Hughes is the odds on favourite.

Lucinda Russell has unearthed some really exciting younger horses this season and one that really took the eye last time out is Grand Morning who runs in the totequadpot Novices’ Hurdle over two miles at 2.55 pm.

This horse carries the famous JP McManus colours and won a similar race last month at the track with h Derek Fox riding and he once more takes the mount.

Ian Duncan’s mare goes Lochnell goes for her seventh course win in the totetrifecta Chase over three miles and has only two opponents – Progress Drive from the Nicky Richards yard and Irish raider Blue Empyrean.

The final race of the afternoon is the Collect totepool Winnings in Betfred Shops Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle at 5.00 pm where James Ewart runs Green Tikkana who caught the eye finishing well to grab third in a maiden hurdle over two miles last month. The extra mile here should suit.

The going at the track is heavy and the first race is due off at 1.50 pm.
