TWO DAY MARCH MEETING
OPENING DAY OF MARCH MEETING
AYR stages the first fixture of its two day March meeting today (Friday) with 55 runners due to go to post for the seven race card.There is some competitive racing on the card sponsored by La Barrique Fine Wines with the feature race the J20 Handicap Chase at 3.00 pm.
There are seven runners in the field most of which have a squeak here including Lucinda Russell's See You There with Peter Buchanan riding, Sue Smith's Rebel Rhythm (Richard McGrath) and Brooklyn Breeze from the Lenny Lungo stable with Wilson Renwick taking the mount.
The Whyte & Mackay Maiden Hurdle at 4.10 pm sees Lenny Lungo's The Pious Prince (Gary Berridge) attempt to get his career back on track but Blackpool Billy from the powerful Ferdy Murphy yard and with the help of Tom Dreaper in the saddle will be hard to beat.
The final race on the card, The Maclachlans Hunters' Chase sees last year's winner Encore Cadoudal, trained and ridden by Tina Jackson going for a double.
