RECORD PRIZEMONEY FOR CORAL SCOTTISH GRAND NATIONAL MEETING

CORAL SCOTTISH NATIONAL FESTIVAL PRIZE FUND TOPS £550,000
PRIZEMONEY at next month's two day Coral Scottish Grand National Festival meeting held at Ayr Racecourse will top £550,000.
And the prize fund for the big race itself - the four mile and half a furlong Coral Scottish Grand National - is £200,000, a £30,000 increase on last year with connections of the winner receiving £114,020.
The main supporting race on Saturday April 19, the Samsung Electronics Scottish Champion Hurdle also goes up in value by £30,000 to £100,000 with the winner picking up £56,330.
In total there is £432,000 up for grabs on the Saturday with a further £124,000 being raced for on Friday April 18.
Announcing the substantial increase in prizemoney, Ayr Racecourse General Manager William Gorol said : "We are conscious of the fact that the Coral Scottish Grand National Festival is one of the biggest National Hunt meetings in the UK and we are reflecting that by increasing the prizemoney on offer.
"We had more than 17,000 people at the course on Coral Scottish Grand National Day last year and more than 900,000 viewers watched the race on Channel 4. By offering £200,000 in prizemoney we are confident trainers from all over the UK and Ireland will want to bring their horses to Ayr for this race and others at the Festival.
"The Samsung Electronics Scottish Champion Hurdle has also attracted some quality runners over the years and again by upping the prize I am sure even more trainers will be keen to enter their horses."

Other major races over the two days include on Friday April 18 the £30,000 Coral Supporting PoppyScotland Mares Only Handicap Hurdle over two miles and The Hillhouse Quarry Handicap Chase, also with £30,000 in prizemoney, over two miles four furlongs.
On Coral Scottish Grand National Day The Ashleybank Investments Future Champion Novices' Chase over two miles four furlongs has £45,000 on offer.
