Praise For Ayr Facilities From Stable Lads Association
PRAISE FOR AYR FACILITIES FROM STABLE LADS ASSOCIATION AYR Racecourse's stable lads accommodation has received a glowing report from the Stable Lads Association. A consultant to the SLA, Debbie Bayliss, recently visited Ayr and following her visit Ayr's Clerk of the Course, Katherine Self received this report from Alison Hardy, Office Manager of the SLA.
Hostel
Stable staff are house in the on site Hotel and the facilities are exceptional. Reports of males and females mixing in the same rooms have now been dismissed as rooming lists were produced by Hotel staff and allocations made according to gender as would be expected. Breakfast is also provided by the Hotel at smaller meetings. When large numbers are staying the canteen area starts serving at 7.00 am.
The Canteen
Miss Bayliss visited the canteen and the food was of a high standard. A self service system was in place and a voucher is given to stable staff entitling them to a free meal along with free tea and coffee. Several calls that the canteen was too far away from the stable now seem somewhat exaggerated as the actual; distance is little more than once around the parade ring. Miss Bayliss has explained that the free meal voucher is by way of compensating staff for the short trip to the canteen.
Day Changing
AS the majority of stable staff have rooms in the adjoining hotel day changing is rarely required. Efforts to improve the facilities have been made by adding a new shower within the stable complex. These areas have been repainted to improve the ambience and further work to external doors and woodwork is in progress.
Conclusions and Recommendations
The issues raised by stable staff and discussed by Miss Bayliss with you seem unfounded. We have been informed by Debbie that future plans for a new canteen block at the back of the stables will be looked at once major course work has been completed and was assured by yourself that stable staffs requirements would not be overlooked. In conclusion we would like to thank you for your co-operation to the Stable Lads Association on the occasion of this visit. In addition Miss Bayliss would like to thank you for the time and assistance given to her during a very busy morning.
