ON FORM PAUL HANAGAN AT THE DOUBLE
Thursday October 4, 2007
JOCKEY Paul Hanagan stole the
riding honours at Ayr Racecourse's opening October meeting on
Thursday with a double on board the Richard Fahey trained pair
Quest For Success and St Savarin.
The former landed the Early Discounts For 2008 Coral SGN Maiden
Auction Stakes with ease at odds of 6/5 fav from Safebreaker (6/1)
while St Savarin (4/1) won the feature event of the day the
Christmas Parties At PR Suite Handicap by a length and a quarter
from Let's Roll (11/4 fav).
Irvine born jockey David Allan bagged a winner in the opening race,
the Weddings At Western House Hotel Linfern Handicap riding the
Eric Alston trained Jadan (3/1 fav) to a comfortable half length
win over 100/1 shot Mint.
As the sun shone down on the course the biggest priced winner of
the day was Double Carpet at 25/1 in the Subscribe Online@racinguk.tv Handicap. The
Paul Fessey ridden, Gary Woodward trained gelding held off the
challenge of Rothesay Dancer (16/1) to cross the line half a length
to the good.
Trainer David Barker regularly sends out winners at Ayr and he
notched another one with Dendor (10/1) under Tony Hamilton in the
Dawn Group Handicap while long distance raider Carrickmacross (7/2)
made the journey from Staffordshire pay off under a good ride from
Richard Mullen in the Ben Nursery.
Final winner of the day was Moheebb (9/4 fav) in the Book Now For
Christmas Handicap for trainer David Chapman and jockey PJ
McDonald.
The next meeting at Ayr is on Friday October 26 with the first race
at 2.10 pm. Advance tickets are on sale with 10 % discount for
single bookings or 20 % for parties of 20 or more. Both offers are
