NEW BETTING AREA FOR AYR GOLD CUP FESTIVAL
AYR Racecourse will become the first in the country to introduce a new bookmakers' area following the introduction of the Gambling Act 2005.
The Ayr Executive is inviting tenders for six new positions adjacent to the paddock lawn area for the three day totesport Ayr Gold Cup Festival from September 20 -22.
In the past six months more than £250,000 has been spent on creating a new Parade Ring, Winners Enclosure and Champagne Lawn and Garden which now provide a greatly enhanced focal point at the track.
The new betting area is opposite the Princess Royal Stand and can be accessed by both Club and Grandstand patrons and is less than 20 yards from the Parade Ring.
Ayr Racecourse General Manager William Gorol said ; "The paddock area has been completely rejuvenated this year and there is a real buzz about the place.
"By providing new betting positions within this area I feel we are further enhancing facilities particularly for the new social racegoers who attend racing at Ayr. They will now be able to enjoy the unique experience of placing a bet with an on course bookmaker, many for the first time as there will now be a better choice of where and who to bet with.
"On course bookmakers are greatly valued by Ayr Racecourse and I feel they provide a key and exciting ingredient to the enjoyment of a day at the races.
"All licensed bookmakers now have an opportunity to tender for and if successful operate from one of the new betting positions for Scotland's most prestigious flat race meeting."
Bookmakers interested in the new positions are being asked to tender by either letter or fax by noon on September 10 and their offers should be clearly marked for William Gorol, General Manager, Ayr Racecourse.
