MYSTERY CAR STILL UNDER WRAPS
Monday February 11, 2008
KERR & SMITH / IVECO 'CAR IN A
BOX' HAS THEM ALL GUESSING
THE new sponsors of the first prize
in Ayr Racecourse's famous Ladies Day Final teased would be
contestants at Valentine's Raceday on Saturday by keeping the
magnificent prize under wraps.
Kerr & Smith/Iveco Trucks are the proud sponsors and the prize
is a top of the range car but just what make and model remains a
mystery despite the car being at the course on Saturday.
For the car was in a box on the back of an Iveco Truck as part of a
display at the Racecourse and was concealed although graphics on
the box showed several models which could provide an answer to the
guessing game which will go on for some time yet.
And groups of girls… and guys took the chance to try to have
a peek at the prize without any luck. But some just couldn't
resist the temptation to climb into the cab of the impressive Iveco
Stralis.
Jim Smith of the Kerr & Smith Group, who has branches in
Cumnock, Ayr and Glasgow, said: "We are delighted to be
sponsoring the first prize for the Ayr Ladies Day Final on Friday
September 19. Ladies Days and Nights are Ayr Racecourse are great
social events and I am looking forward to our association with the
event.
"We have the Franchise for Iveco Trucks in Glasgow and South
West Scotland and it is fitting such a prestigious partnership
should be backing this great competition. Iveco's worldwide
corporate organisation are also the sponsors of the All Blacks
rugby team another powerful success story.
"I took the opportunity of bringing the Stralis to the course
on Saturday and the interest it caused was quite something.
Everyone wanted to know what was in the box on the back of the
truck. "It will remain a mystery for a few weeks yet but I can
honestly say nobody will be disappointed."
Ayr Racecourse Marketing Manager Lindsey Smith added : "We
have built up a great tradition with our Ladies Day Final. This
will be the fifth year in a row we have had a car and I can assure
the ladies they will be suitably impressed by this year's prize
when it is revealed."
And as in previous years there will also be spectacular runners up
prizes of a never to be forgotten holiday from Stewart Travel and a
stunning piece of jewellery from Oghams of Ayr and Edinburgh.
