JOHN SMITH'S RACEDAY BRINGS DOWN CURTAIN ON FLAT SEASON
AYR Racecourse stages its
final flat fixture of 2007 on Saturday when John Smith's
Raceday features seven races.
The main race on the card is The John Smith's Extra Smooth
Handicap over a mile at 2.30 pm with £12,000 in prize money.
Some decent sorts will contest this on ground described earlier in
the week as 'heavy'.
The John Smith's Extra Cold Handicap over one mile one furlong
at 1.55 pm will see Vicious Warrior, a winner on Friday try to land
a quick double under jockey Dean McKeown.
Linda Perratt will be keen to finish the flat season at her home
track with a winner and that could come in The John Smith's At
Ayr Racecourse Handicap at 4.15 pm where she has Caviar Heights,
Mandarin Rocket and Oeuf A La Neige entered.
Bars and restaurants open at 10.55 am with the first race, The John
Smith's Maiden Stakes at 12.55 pm.
Meanwhile championship chasing jockey Jamie Spencer was the man in
form at Ayr last Friday when rode a double.
His first success came on the highly impressive Kaldoun Kingdom
(6/5 fav) for trainer Ed Dunlop in the WBX.Com Nursery. Spencer
hardly had to break sweat in guiding his mount to a seven length
win from Paint Stripper (20/1). He quickly followed that with
another comfortable win on Spinning (17/2) in the WBX. Com £25
Free Bet For New Accounts Handicap.
But Spencer was denied his treble when Rudry Dragon (7/1) was
beaten a short head by Vicious Warrior (9/1), ridden by Dean
McKeown in the WBX. Com 0% Commission Handicap.
Ayr specialist jockey Paul Hanagan piloted Silk Affair (5/2 joint
fav) to a short head win from Madame Hoi (7/2) in the EBF Daily
Record Maiden while Morristown Music (13/8 fav) was a comfortable
winner in the hands of Tony Hamilotn in the WBX.Com World Bet
Exchnage Handicap.
Other winners were Grethel (8/1), trained by Alan Berry and ridden
by Paddy Mathers in the WBX.Com Day's Big Match Claiming Stakes
and Memphis Man (100/30 fav) ridden by Tom McLaughlin the WBX. Com
Football Shirt Handicap.
Ayr's first jumps meeting of the season takes place on Monday
November 26, with the first race at 1.10 pm. Advance tickets are on
sale with 10 % discount for single bookings or 20 % for parties of
20 or more. Both offers are subject to bookings being made seven or
