GOOD ENTRIES AT AYR FOR MIDWEEK CARD
AYR Racecourse's last August
fixture of the year tomorrow (Wednesday) has attracted a healthy 74
entries on a card that carries almost £45,000 in prizemoney.
And for the first time this season horses will be running on the
traditional flat track after the first batch of flat fixtures were
run on the hurdles course in the back straight due to drainage work
being carried out.
The fresh ground was given the thumbs up on Friday after local
trainer Linda Perratt galloped two horses and as a result seven
furlong and one mile two furlong races will be run for the first
time this season.
The seven race card is sponsored by drinks company Wallaces Express
and the first race is a competitive looking maiden - the Coke Zero
Stakes over seven furlongs and Mark Johnston is double handed here
with Terracos Do Pinhal (Paul Mulrennan) and Pearl Trader (Greg
Fairley).
The feature race is the Morgans Spiced Rum Handicap Stakes over one
mile two furlongs with £6855 going to the winner and recent
course winners Neil's Legacy, trained by Linda Perratt and
ridden by Greg Fairley and the Peter Monteith trained Hawkit (Dale
Gibson) clash.
The next fixture after this week at Ayr is the totesport Gold Cup
Festival which runs from Thursday September 20 until Saturday
September 22 and there are great bargains to be had if booking
tickets in advance.
There is 10 % discount for single bookings or 20 % for parties of
