COUNTDOWN TO CORAL SCOTTISH GRAND NATIONAL
GROUND DRYING OUT AT AYR
THE ground for this year's
Coral Scottish Grand National at Ayr could ride faster than first
anticipated as it continued to dry out yesterday.
Clerk of the Course Katherine Self has changed the going from
heavy, soft in places to soft, heavy in places but with dry weather
taking a hold it could change again before the big day.
Katherine said last night :"The ground is definitely drying
out and we now have less rain forecast in the next 48 hours than
was thought earlier in the week. If it continues like this it will
be better than we thought."
Meanwhile tickets for the two day meeting continue to sell at a
steady rate and crowds should be even greater than first thought.
The better weather will add further to the crowd which now looks
certain to break all recent records.
Ayr Racecourse General Manager William Gorol said last night :
"The course and facilities are looking magnificent and it
looks as if we'll have record crowds. We have more staff than
ever before in place to provide quality service that befits
Scotland's premier race meeting."
