BILLY'S FIRST VISIT TO AYR WINNERS ENCLOSURE
Thursday December 6, 2007
FORMER
Rangers player Billy Dodds is a regular visitor to Ayr Racecourse
but he visited the winners enclosure for the first time last
Wednesday when his horse Lampion du Bost won the Dawn Construction
Steeple Chase.
Billy, originally from Cumnock, owns the horse in partnership with
another ex Ranger Craig Moore who now lives in Australia and
Doddsie was on the phone to his mate as the horse crossed the line
at odds of 7/2.
Billy said : "It's a great feeling to win a race at Ayr
and that's two in a row for the horse since I moved him to Jim
Goldie's yard. Obviously the change of scenery has worked
wonders."
The long term aim for Lampion du Bost is the Grand National at
Aintree next April and the horse won over the National fences last
month.
On a day when no favourites won, the highest priced winner was
Roschal in the Book Now For The Coral SGN Novices Hurdle. Sent off
at 22/1, the Lucinda Russell trained, Peter Buchanan ridden grey
won by three lengths from Royal Melbourne.
And Russell and Buchanan completed a double when Jefertiti won the
Racing On 2ND January At Ayr Handicap Chase at 11/2 from
Hollows Mill (8/1).
Jockey Tony Dobbin rode his customary Ayr winner on Scarvagh
Diamond (2/1) for trainer Nicky Richards in the Jim And Morag
Engagement Novice Chase but Dobbs missed out on a double when his
mount Autumn Harvest (15/8 fav) was beaten by three lengths by the
Denis O'Regan ridden Teenage Idol (9/4)in the EBF
"Junior" Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race.
The in form Midlothian trainer Peter Monteith saddled Quicuyo (6/1)
to land the Weddings At Western House Introductory Hurdle in the
hands of Graham Lee.
Amateur rider Clive Storey rode Treasured Memories (15/2) to win
the Black Bottle Whisky Handicap by one and three quarter lengths
from Em's Royalty (6/1).
Ayr's next race meeting is on Monday December 17 with the first
race at 12.30 pm and £46,000 in prize money up for grabs. The
day will have a festive theme and there are seven races on the
card.
Advance tickets are on sale with 10 % discount for single bookings
or 20 % for parties of 20 or more. Both offers are subject to
