AYR THURSDAY MEETING GIVEN GREEN LIGHT
JIM GOLDIE GALLOPS TWO AT AYR
TRAINER Jim Goldie worked two
horses - an unnamed two year old and John Keats - at Ayr today
(Tuesday) ahead of Thursday's race meeting.
The horses were ridden by three times champion amateur jockey
Carol Bartley and her husband Gary who also galloped on the course
last Wednesday after racing was abandoned.
Carol Bartley said : The course is in great condition and the
horses worked well up the six furlong straight."
Gary added :"The course is riding perfectly well - the same
as last Wednesday - I am looking forward to my rides on
Thursday."
Ayr's Property Day Race Meeting on Thursday was given the go
ahead after an inspection on Monday morning.
The course was walked by Clerk of the Course Katherine Self, BHA
Course Inspector Chris Dennis and Senior Steward David Goldie.
Katherine Self confirmed that the Going is currently Good to Firm,
Firm in Places (10.3 on the going stick) Watering to maintain.
The forecast is for the remainder of today to be the odd light
shower amounting to around 2mm until around 6pm. Dry overnight
followed by another unsettled day tomorrow - rain moving through
from around 9am until around 1pm and again later in the afternoon
and early evening.
Amounts for showers up to 3-7mm in total. Showery overnight into
Thursday, but lighter than during the day on Wednesday. A risk of
showers carrying on through until Thursday morning, but an
improving picture - brighter and drier from lunchtime onwards, up
to 17 degrees, with lighter winds.
The seven race card gets under way at 2.20 pm.
