AYR'S NEW YEAR FIXTURE LOOKING GOOD
Tuesday January 1, 2008
AYR'S FIRST FOOT
MEETING LOOKING GOOD
AYR Racecourse's traditional
First Foot Raceday on Wednesday January 2 should provide punters
with the chance to see some good competitive racing.
Highlight of the seven race card is the Happy New Year From Ayr
Handicap Chase over two miles four furlongs at 2.45 pm where
Lucinda Russell's Master Sebastian attempts to win the race for
the third year running with Peter Buchanan in the saddle.
But the hat trick seeker won't have it all his own way with
Howard Johnson's Akilak, Lampion Du Bost owned by former
Rangers players Billy Dodds and Craig Moore and trained by Jim
Goldie and Lenny Lungo's Villon all in with chances.
Another interesting contest is EBF Robert Dunn Plant Hire Novices
Hurdle over two miles four furlongs at 1.40 pm with 16 runners
going to post including three from the Nicky Richards yard
including recent course winner Viking Rebel ridden by Tony Dobbin.
Look too for a big run from Howard Johnson's Calin Royal with
Denis O'Regan in the plate.
Clerk of the Course Katherine Self said last night : "The
going is currently heavy but there are no problems expected with
the course and no inspections planned."
Bars and restaurants open at 11.00 am, the first race is at 12.40
pm with the final race under starter's orders at 3.40 pm.
The first meeting of the New Year in Scotland will have a great
party atmosphere and there will be a disco starting immediately
after racing and lasting for three hours. For more information go
online at www.ayr-racecourse.co.uk or call
