A long standing tradition will continue on Monday  when the Glasgow Fair Festival Family Day takes place at Ayr Racecourse.

A crowd of more than 4000 is expected at the track to welcome Peppa Pig and her little brother George back to Ayr.

The cheeky little piggies will be making appearances at intervals throughout the afternoon and there will be lots more for the family to do with all sorts of entertainment.

There will be live shows and workshops from the Allstar Cheer and Dance Company cheerleaders, fun fair rides, face painters, beat the goalie from Ayr United and shows from leading children's entertainer Gary Dunn.

In addition children will be able to test their riding skills on an  ecquisizer - the machine used by jockeys to simulate race riding - and there will be a vinatge fire engines on display.

Ayr Racecourse Sales and Marketing Manager Lindsey Smith is looking forward to a fun packed and busy afternoon and said : "You keep hearing people telling you that Glasgow Fair in Ayr is not what it used to be  - but we are proud that our traditional race day which dates back many, many years is still continuing and thriving.

"Its a fantastic afternoon out for all the family and with the line up of children's based entertainment we have allied to the horse racing everyone should have a fun day !"
