Sunshine and temperatures in the 70s added to the success of the
afternoon with a crowd of just under 4500 enjoying a fun filled day
with lots of entertainment for all the family.
The Champagne Lawns were packed with families taking advantage
of the great weather and the children were enthralled as Peppa Pig
and George made a series of appearances during the afternoon.
Childrens' Entertainer Gary Dunn also attracted big crowds to
the Paddock Lawn Marquee and there were performances and workshops
from the All Star Dance and Cheerleaders Group in the Courtyard
area. And the Kosmic Krew Show performed by M& M Productions
was also voted a hit by the children attending.
Many youngsters also took advantage of riding on the equisizer
used by jockeys to hone their skills and they were given hints by
Carrie Ford, the former jockey who rode Forest Gunner to finish
fifth in the 2005 Grand National at Aintree .
There were displays of vintage fire engines, fun fair rides and
a Beat The Goalie with Ayr United coaches and players taking
part.
Peppa Pig and George are back at the Racecourse on Monday July
18 for the Glasgow Fair Festival Family Day which will also feature
all of the attractions who helped make Sunday such a great day with
the exception of the Kosmic Krew.
Ayr Racecourse Sales and Marketing Manager Lindsey Smith
commented : "The sun certainly made a huge difference and we were
blessed with a good crowd and all the entertainment seemed to be
well received by the children.
"We are having a repeat performance on July 18 so hopefully we
can arrange another fine day weatherwise."
