Another 40/1 Winner for Linda

26 July 2011

Linda Perratt proved lightening really can strike twice when saddling her second 40/1 winner on successive Mondays at Ayr Racecourse.

Unraced Cafe Express was given a good ride by Tony Hamilton and led inside the final furlong pulling away to win the Bodog Backs Ayr United Median Auction Maiden Stakes by two lengths from Samba Night (9/2).

Royal Blade (9/2) followed last week's course win by landing the sporteventayrshire.com Handicap by a length and a half from Beckermet (3/1) for trainer Alan Berry and jockey Julie Burke while Jewelled Dagger, a winner two weeks ago at Ayr, held on gamely to land the Jockey Club Restaurant Handicap by a head from Cat O' Nine Tails in the hands of Tom Eaves for trainer Keith Dalgleish.

Newmarket based jockey Richard Mullen made the long trip to Ayr worthwhile when riding Cuckney Bear (6/4 fav) to win the Glasgow Prestwick Airport Handicap by two and three quarter lengths from Purkab (11/2) and the last race, the Scottish Racing Apprentice Handicap went to Military Call (5/1) ridden by Justin Newman and trained by Alistair Whillans in the Borders.
