More than 22,000 people will converge on the Racecourse with
around 17,000 expected on Saturday which sees the big race - the
Coral Scottish Grand National due off at 3.25pm.
Hotels, bars, restaurants and taxi companies all enjoy a bumper
weekend with many people enjoying a holiday break and a great
atmosphere is guaranteed over the two days with visitors from all
over the UK and Ireland.
The fun starts on Friday with the racing action coming under
starter's orders at 1.45pm and the entertainment kicking off after
the last race at 5.05pm.
Ayr band Electric Warrior make their Racecourse debut appearing
in the Horseshoe Bar at 5.15pm while The Saw Doctors return for a
fifth time to the course to play a full concert in the Ayrshire
Suite.
The Galway band kick off an eight date UK tour at Ayr on Friday
and promise to mix some of their classics with tracks from their
new album 'The Further Adventures Of The Saw Doctors.' The 90
minute set kicks off at approximately 5.45pm
Saturday's racing begins at 1.50pm with the gates open at 11.00am
and lots of lovely ladies will be vying to win a bronze coin and a
place in the final of William Hill (Ayr) Gold Cup Ladies Day on
September 16.
Glamour will be abundant and ladies will have a chance to have
their first glimpse of the fabulous first prize - a Vauxhall Corsa
Limited Edition three door hatchback which will be on show near the
paddock.
And there will be even more glamour on parade as the finalist
for next month's Miss Scotland contest will be making a visit to
the track.
For autograph hunters a special area will be available near the
Weighing Room where jockeys like AP McCoy, Ruby Walsh, Jason
Maguire and Robert 'Choc' Thornton will gladly 'sign on'.
